Behind the Scenes: Winter 2011 Inspiration
When figuring out how to merchandise the store - I definitely lean heavily on fashion inspiration. Before one piece is put out - I pour over the fashion magazines, runway shows, and hair/makeup trends to find the themes that translate directly to vintage clothing. It's almost like a full circle.... the current designers are inspired by the past...they buy/reinterpret vintage looks...I take the updated looks... and relate them back to the original pieces from the 1940's - 1980s. Here is my inspiration board for Winter 2011. This collection is currently set up at the front of the store.
For this collection I envisioned a poor, little rich girl, by channeling Gwyneth Paltrow in the Royal Tenenbaums. I wanted all winter white/creams, fur, lace, and lingerie. Truly a rich thrown together look. The eye makeup was heavy rimmed and smoky. Hair wise, I think this look feels right with a tousled, messy side swept style.
