Three's a Trend: Kanye West

All too often we think of fashion as being disposable. So, it is refreshing to see a celebrity re-wear a piece within a couple of weeks. Kanye West gave fresh life to a classic jean jacket three different times during New York's and London's fashion week. Proving that a classic item can be a building block of a wardrobe.

The Fall 2008 season has a wonderful mix of trends including the return to elegance, rich jewel tones, and the introduction of sculptural dress shapes. The dresses above hit all three of the trends at once. Calvin Klein featured sculpted minimalism with strong lines and crisp silhouettes. On the street we see this trend continue with a notched neckline and clean shape. The vintage Nicole Miller dress has the shape, color, and elegance to be right in line with the current looks.

Here's a look at three different takes on ruffled plaid shirts. I think these shirts look best with a slim/skinny jean. Since the shirt has ruffles and puff sleeves - there's no need for a lot of addditonal ornamentation.
